A new satellite office that will better serve Jefferson County Public Schools students and families in west Louisville is set to open on Jan. 4 at the California Community Center (1600 W. St Catherine St.). The city-run center in West Louisville will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
During a ribbon-cutting ceremony, JCPS Acting Superintendent Marty Pollio said having such an office in West Louisville was a priority for him. “By taking our services directly to the community, as this new office will do, we can engage with families and promote family involvement in a much greater way,” he said.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said the city is honored to partner with the district on this effort.
“This is another example of JPCS bringing services directly to its customers – students and their parents – in the neighborhoods where they live,” Fischer said.
The California Community Center is located next door to Wheatley Elementary and students from the school were at the satellite office Monday to help cut the ribbon.
