Getting from place-to-place quickly in downtown Louisville without a car just got easier. And, the cooler temperatures of approaching autumn make this a perfect time to give LouVelo, Louisville’s newest form of public transportation, a try. With 27 stations and 300 bikes throughout Downtown, NuLu, Old Louisville and near Waterfront Park, it’s never been easier to grab a bike and take a short trip.
The city’s official bike sharing program is perfect for those short one-way trips or just to get some fresh air during lunch. The program is simple. LouVelo members can access any of the 300-plus bikes though a station kiosk, a smartphone or with their membership card. Checking out a bike is quick and easy, and returning it is as simple as parking the bike in the dock. The bike can be returned to any station around town.
With pay as you go, monthly and annual plans, LouVelo has a plan to fit any budget and lifestyle.Day Passes are $7.50+tax/24 hours; Monthly Passes run $15/month for unlimited 60 minute rides; Annual Pass cost $10/month with unlimited 60 minute rides.
LouVelo is owned by Louisville Metro, which has contracted with CycleHop, a leading operator of major municipal bike share programs throughout North America, to run the program.
