Artists from all over Louisville will open their doors November 4 and 5 for Open Studio Weekend 2017.

The event gives anyone who appreciates art the opportunity to step inside studios where they can meet artists and experience how and where local art is made. Now in its fifth year, the event continues to grow, with more than 100 participating artists.

This year features a new partnership with LouVelo Bike Share, which will make it even easier for participants to travel from studio to studio. Grab a bike at the Open Studio Weekend Kick-off Ride Event, noon-1 p.m. on November 4 at Hyland Glass, (721 E. Washington St.), and follow the official LouVelo route to five nearby studios.

The event also features a juried exhibition at Hite’s Cressman Center (100 N. Main St.), where the launch party will be held from 6-8 p.m. on November 3 during the First Friday Hop.

Open Studio Weekend is a partnership between Louisville Visual Art (LVA) and the University of Louisville Hite Art Institute. All proceeds from the weekend tour benefit Children’s Fine Art Classes through LVA and the Mary Spencer Nay Memorial Scholarship at UofL.

Open Studio is from noon-6 p.m. on November 4 and 5. The cost is $20 or $10 for students, art educators, and LVA members. The fee allows participants to visit as many studios as they like and includes a 64-page studio guide with area maps, suggested routes, artist locations, information and images of artists’ work. Tickets may be purchased at the Cressman Center, LVA or online through LVA.
